Barbara Mayer and Jacob Sohn

I have only two solid pieces of information about this couple: their daughter Anna Christina was christened in Freinsheim 21 Jun 1868, and their daughter Sophia was born six years later on 16 Aug 1874 and christened in Freinsheim 23 Aug 1874. (Keep in mind that I have no birth records for Freinsheim after 1875.)

These dates suggest that Barbara was born between 1824 and 1850. The most likely candidate seems to be the daughter of Sophia Ridthaler and Elias Mayer christened in Freinsheim 01 Jan 1847, but I don't think we can discount the daughter of Anna Maria Linkenstein and Wilhelm Mayer born 29 Aug 1841 and christened in Erpolzheim 29 Aug 1841 or the daughter of Catharina Hensel and Carl Ludwig Mayer christened in Bad Dürkheim 12 Sep 1848. Erpolzheim is 2 km SSE of Freinsheim, Bad Dürkheim is 7 km SW.

Barbara's husband Jacob may be the Jacob Sohn who had married Philippina Düssel. Philippina's last child born was in February or March 1867. I don't have any death records at all for Freinsheim after January 1865. It's not impossible that between March 1867 and June 1868, Philippina died and her widowed married Barbara Mayer. The six-year gap between Anna Christina and Sophia might be explained if Barbara was busy raising not only Anna Christina but also nine stepchildren.

However, there's another possibility for Barbara's husband: the son of Luisa Isserheld and Peter Sohn christened 18 Aug 1847. This younger Jacob Sohn might seem to be a better age match for the candidates we have for Barbara, but it remains a good question as to why there's a six-year-gap between Anna Christina and Sophia.
